Experiencing innovations at first hand

Gothenburg, 10th February, 2020  Technical innovations are what drive the economy. This is especially the case in the automotive industry, which is currently reinventing itself. The EDAG Group, the world's largest independent engineering service provider, is making a major contribution to this transformation process towards new drive systems, autonomous driving, a digital world and completely new mobility concepts. During the 1st Tech Day held by the subsidiary EDAG Engineering Scandinavia AB, customers in Gothenburg had the opportunity to gain an exclusive insight into the mobility specialist's latest developments, innovations and concepts.

The numerous Tech Day visitors, which was held at the Lindholmen Science Park  called “the Silicon Valley of Gothenburg” on the 6th and 7th of February, were particularly impressed by the "EDAG CityBot" mobility concept. The exhibit shows the mobile future in a form that is both radically different but nevertheless efficient. The EDAG CityBot is a multi-functional, fully autono-mous robot vehicle with swarm intelligence, which, thanks to its modularity and multi-functionality, can be operated around the clock and, depending on requirements, configured as a passenger cell, cargo carrier or city cleaning device by fitting add-on modules.

At the trade fair exhibition, the team led by the EDAG Managing Director in Sweden, Jakob Hjelmåker, also presented EDAG's own developments such as the DiFoRem software, which uses artificial intelligence to support assisted and automated driving even in poor visibility conditions. In addition, Tech Day visitors were able to find out more about innovative solutions for additively manufactured lightweight components and a freely programmable haptic feedback sensor - another example of innovation from the EDAG Group. Technical presentations on new mobility concepts and smart production solutions rounded off the two-day event.

Apart from EDAG’s traditional customers in the region, the Tech Days were also well appreciated by other key stakeholders of the mobility sector. Representatives from Gothenburg as well as other regions, traffic and street planning councils, public transportation, road safety organizations, research institutes and scientists all made their way to the Tech Day to learn more on EDAG’s role and position within the ongoing mobility revolution.

"EDAG stands for 360 degree engineering, technological openness and innovation. We combine our detailed expertise and experience in all aspects of automotive engineering with the mobility ecosystem of tomorrow. The variety of topics presented by our team here in Sweden with the support of the worldwide EDAG specialists at the Tech Day in Gothenburg perfectly reflects our ambition to shape the future of our industry," emphasises Cosimo De Carlo, CEO of the EDAG Group.

The EDAG subsidiary in Gothenburg is a leading supplier within the automotive industry in Sweden. The company stands out with its unique capabilities of  combining both local expertise with near shore engineering capabilities. The services range from Vehicle Development, Electronics and Manufacturing Engineering to SW-development, including the implementation of artificial intelligence applications. “In addition to the local and personal engineering support in Sweden, our customers also have access to the global engineering network of the EDAG Group with its 8,600 employees in 60 locations,” added Jakob Hjelmåker.
